“Your only limit is your soul. What I say is true—anyone can cook ... but only the fearless can be great.” -Chef Gusteau
What is a good cook and/or what is good food?
Healthy? Filling? Inspiring? Tasteful? Tickles your tastebuds? Reminds you of a childhood memory? There are an indeterminate number of ways to describe what good cooking is and in tandem, what good food is. Some might say good food falls in line with what nature would give us, whether it be raw meat or grass even. While this isn't the case for everyone, that is what makes cooking such a wonderful art in which every person can express themself through their dishes and individually, define good food.
Starting on your path
I started by watching YouTube videos non-stop to come across a dish I wanted to try in my kitchen. One of the first dishes I can remember making was Chicken Parmesan. It is such an easy dish to make and so rewarding because the taste is out of this world. Don't go anywhere else but home to make your own Chicken Parmesan. Trust me. I learned the best recipe from YouTube and if you're like me and can learn from videos, I can happily recommend a few YouTubers who have been phenomenal in my journey to being a home chef. I've provided links to their YouTube channels below.

If that doesn't work for you, you'll have to figure out where to start. I'd recommend starting with a familiar dish. It doesn't have to be any kind of extravagant if you can get a foundation going, you're good. Once you've gotten that foundation down, experiment by changing up the ingredients. You never know what you'll discover by changing out one spice for another. For example, did you know that Jameson Black Barrel makes for an AMAZING pan sauce? Try making a reverse sear steak. It's not as quick as a stove top or grill, but I promise you'll be living the lap of luxury with how well it turns out.
